At the International Tourism Fair PLACE2GO, held March 17th – 19th in Arena Zagreb, Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia won the Award for the Best Engagement in Destination Promotion.
Variety of Activities led Wonderful Indonesia to the Award
During the Fair PLACE2GO visitors had an opportunity to enjoy in a photo exhibition „Indonesia – Journey to Thousands of Islands“. The author of the exhibition is Damir Zurub, World Champion in underwater photography, President of diving club „Roniti se mora“ and Mares Ambasador. The exhibition presented more than 30 fascinating photos taken during Damirs’ journeys through Indonesia and while diving in Indonesian archipelago.
The photo exhibition was done with a support of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Croatia. On Sunday, at the main stage Damir also shared with Fair visitors his travel experiences while travelling in Indonesia.
During all three days visitors of the Indonesia booth had the opportunity to see a live performance of traditional Indonesian dance Gembira, and to taste Indonesian food.
Gembira Dance has origins from Central Java and become part of Indonesian new creation of Traditional Dance. Gembira Dance pictures a childhood time which is full of happiness and every movement of that dance reflects the lively life of children . This dance is usually performed during wedding party or some celebration event including Independence Day.
One of the activities for visitors engagement was a „Wonderful Indonesia and Qatar Airways“ Photo Booth where they could take a photo and had the opportunity to win a trip to Indonesia for two persons.
Wonderful Indonesia Business Workshop
First day of the Fair was dedicated to the B2B visitors when Indonesian partners had the opportunity to present themselves during Wonderful Indonesia B2B workshop to the network of Croatian travel agents and tour operators.
The main goals of workshop were:
- Encourage an interaction of Indonesian partners and Croatian Tour Operators and Travel Agents in order to establish quality business relationship regarding better positioning and sales of Indonesian travel products
- Emphasise positive aspect of Indonesian People in Communication
- Teach the audience about doing business with Indonesians
- Show Indonesian hospitality and friendship.
Indonesia presented „Ten new Balis“
The most famous island of Indonesia is Bali, which fascinates with its culture, beaches, dynamic dances and music. As an tourism icon of Indonesia Bali attracts about 4 million tourists yearly, what is 40% of the total visits to the country. Indonesia still has many unexplored island with magnificent mountain views, vast rain forest areas, suitable coasts for surfing and deep sea ideal for diving, swimming with dugongs, dolphins and large rays.
The main goal of Indonesia’s promotion is to familiarise the market with other attractive destinations of the Indonesian archipelago.
The motto of the tourism campaign represents the story of “Ten new Balis”. These are the following destinations: Lake Toba (North Sumatra), Belitung (Bangka Belitung), Tanjung Lesung (Banten), Islands Seribu (Jakarta), the Temple of Borobudur (Central Java), Mount Bromo (East Java), Mandalika Lombok (West Nusa Tenggara), Komodo Islands (East Nusa Tenggara), Wakatobi National park (Southeast Sulawesi) I Morotai (North Maluku).
The largest delegation of exhibitors from Indonesia at Place2go
The main aim of of the Indonesian tourist partners is further connection with the Croatian travel market. Therefore at the booth of Wonderful Indonesia it was presented so far the largest delegation of travel agencies and tour operators from Indonesia: Asvinia Travel Services, Travel Asia Tours and Travel, Horas Tour, Trans Borneo Adventure, Marintur Indonesia, Panorama Destination, Lotus Asia and Cakra21.
Two Croatian travel agencies A La Carte Travel and Jungle Tribe which greatly assist in promoting Indonesia as a destination also joined the Indonesias booth as well as the airline Qatar Airways.
The presence of Indonesia in this year’s fair has shown the commitment of the Embassy not only in the improvement of cooperation in the tourism sector, but also to promote personal contacts and cultural understanding between Indonesian and Croatian.
Through its tourism campaign Indonesia by 2019 plans to increase the number of foreign tourist arrivals to 20 million, while Croatian market is certainly one with a high potential when it comes to interest for travel to Indonesia. Tourist destinations of Indonesia now become more accessible – large cities are well connected by direct international flights, and many regular low-cost carriers fly to Indonesian cities or remote locations.
Croatian citizens, holders of ordinary passports, and travelling for tourist purposes do not need a visa for stay up to 30 days.
International Tourism Fair PLACE2GO
6th International Tourism Fair PLACE2GO for the first time put place in Zagreb, Arena March 17th – 19th. The new location made the Fair greater, more meaningful and interesting. PLACE2GO 2017 has brought together 180 exhibitors from 20 countries and 15.000 visitors during three days.
The whole weekend was in the sign of travel, adventure, exploring and discovering. Visitors got the best insights into new trends in tourism, had an opportunity to discover different destinations, offers and attractions that encouraged them for planning their next trip.
