Sailing in Croatia – adventure with a personal experience

Reading Time: 5 minutes

May is the perfect time for starting the sailing season in Croatia and we had an opportunity to organize a FAM trip from 7th till 10th of May 2016 for our Serbian colleagues in cooperation with a charter company Asta Yachting. We have spent four amazing days while sailing along Croatian coast, had the opportunity to learn about the life on a sailing boat, enjoyed in amazing sceneries, tasteful food, and made a lifetime memories.
Croatia is known as a great holiday destination, and its nautical possibilities have outstanding features that deserve to be better recognized and promoted on the Serbian travel market, and therefore a FAM trip initiative was a great starting point to show travel agents the destination and Asta Yachting service through a personal experience.

Our FAM trip has started in Zadar in Marina Dalmacija where we have enjoyed in a warm welcome of our hosts, Asta Yachting employees. After a check in on our sailing boats (Oceanis 48 & Bavaria 50) we were off to Zadar for a guided tour, and have finished the night with a delicious dinner in a heritage hotel Bastion.

A good night sleep on the sailing boat made us completely ready for days we were headed to. Every morning we felt seclusion and serenity while we were waking up with the waves slightly bouncing off the boat we were listening the morning song of seagulls and enjoying in a magical sun rising sceneries. All of it made us fell amazingly relaxed and thankful for another beautiful day.

During our first day route we were sailing from Zadar along island of Pašman while having a wonderful opportunity to see dolphins on our way to a Nature park Telašćica and finished the day in Sali at Dugi Otok. Next day was reserved for an indescribable beauty of National park Kornati, its numerous islands and cliffs and an overnight in Tisno on the island of Murter. The last day of our sailing adventure we have spent while sailing through the islands of Šibenik archipelago all the way to Skradin from where we have entered National park Krka which was the last stop on our trip.

Telašćica

Nature Park Telašćica is located in the southeastern part of the island Dugi Otok and with the surrounding waters as well as 13 islands, islets and rocks it makes a miraculous harmony of nature.
It is a perfect place for enjoying a short track to the salty lake Mir and to the highest peak of the island for a wonderful view on impressive cliffs. Telašćica bay is also a perfect spot for hiding of the severe weather while on the boat.

Dugi Otok – Sali

Because of its indented coastline, Dugi otok has always been an attractive destination for all sailors who decided to visit Zadar’s archipelago. You can spend a night in Sali where moorings are arranged for the reception of ships, and you will have the possibility of supplying with water and electricity. With its tourist facilities, the vicinity of the Nature Park Telašćica and the National Park Kornati, Sali is an ideal place to relax.

National Park Kornati Islands

The Kornati Islands National Park consists of 89 unforgettable islands, islets and reefs where you have the opportunity to test all of your nautical skills, particularly if the weather puts in some effort. In Kornati Islands you can find numerous small coves, beaches and bays where you can stop for a swim, and take in the pristine environment. Kornati National Park is perfect for those looking to experience unique natural landscapes, soaring cliffs and barren rocky mostly uninhabited islands.

Tisno

Tisno is situated partly on mainland and partly on the island of Murter, and is connected with a mechanical bridge that opens twice a day during summer season. From middle of October till middle of May the bridge opens 3 times per week and you have to take care about it when approaching Tisno by sailing boat. Incredible Dalmatian stone houses and narrow streets, wide squares and widespread Mediterranean vegetation along with a long seafront and many traditional restaurants make Tisno an enjoyable nautical spot.

Sailing

Skradin

Skradin is small, picturesque town filled with flavor and found at a point where the river passionately embraces the sea. ACI Marina is the place where you can leave your boat and peacefully enjoy while wandering through the magnificent Krka Waterfalls.

National Park Krka Waterfalls

The Krka River flows through the Dalmatian region, in the area of Šibenik-Knin County, between the plateau of the Čikola River and the Dalmatian Zagora region. Thanks to the constant process of travertine building, the Krka River is a karst phenomenon that is nature’s priceless gift. National Park Krka Waterfalls is the perfect place for a day excursion and enjoying in a combination of greenery and impressive water power running down the magnificent waterfalls.
